Pirate Day

Hello Parents and Students

Daily Activities:

In Language Arts today, we had our Literature Circles. Then the rest of the time was used for Mathematics. Mme Stella was absent today, so French class was also used for Math Summative

During Mathematics, I held conferences with every student to see where they were at with their Math Summative. Some of them needed to rethink their designs and adjust as they were missing pieces from the assignment. Everyone should be on track now. Tomorrow, will be our last class on the Summative. If students are not finished by day end then they will need to use their recess times to complete it.

In UOI today, the quiz was handed back. Please sign and return the quiz as soon as possible. The rest of the time was spent working on their "Take A Stand" Letters. Several students have their Rough Copies completed and have done their Peer Edit. They just need to type or write up their Good Copy which is due tomorrow (Wednesday April 18)

Homework:

Language:
Spelling List #25 and Workbook Exercises
Read Chapters 9 & 10 of our Novel Study

Math:
Math Summative Good Copy is due tomorrow (Wednesday April 18). That means their Good Copy Mosaic is fully coloured and their written component is either typed or written neatly. Both of these items, their Rubric and their Rough Copy are to be submitted by end of day tomorrow.

UOI:
"Take a Stand" Good Copy Letters are due tomorrow (Wednesday April 18) by day end. I am expecting their Graphic Organizer, their Peer Editing Sheet, their Rubric with the Self Assessment filled out, and their Rough Copy to be attached. If they are emailing their Good Copy, then I expect the rest of the papers to be turned in separately, but still tomorrow.

Reminders:

For Arts Night: We are asking that each student bring in a recent and childhood picture. Please send in all pictures no later than April 20th. Thank you in advance!

Please send in the last page of your report card with your comments and signature. Thank you very much!

Permission Forms for YMCA Cedar Glen Trip to be signed and returned as soon as possible.

SPRING FUNDRAISER!!!!! Our annual Spring Fundraiser started today Tuesday April 17 to Friday, April 20. All of the funds raised this year will go towards improving technology for our classrooms.

So far we have raised $6000 for SJA!!! One lucky student will get to give Mr. Rosario a makeover. Let's keep those funds coming. It would awesome if someone in our class won a prize. Tomorrow's prize is a chance to shoot Mr. Foster with a nerf gun!

For students who collect a minimum of $35, they will get to enjoy a morning or afternoon at Kidsport. Please use the pledge sheet provided and be sure to turn in on a daily basis! Daily prizes for the most amount of money brought in are; bonus casual days, getting to sit at your teacher’s desk for a day, or shooting Mr. Foster with a Nerf gun. School wide fundraising targets will allow students the opportunity to give Mr. Rozario a makeup lesson or water balloon their teachers. So, get out there SJA, and raise some money!!!!!

As a reminder: St.Jude's Academy is now affiliated with an official soccer club called St. Jude's FC. Students of St.Jude are given a 33% discount that will allow them to join the club and play competitively with other soccer clubs this spring and summer (starting most likely April to September). The students will be working with excellent coaches and going to competitions on the weekend. Practices will be held (most likely) right after school twice a week. In April, besides the soccer field, the students will have a chance to play in our official soccer dome! I think this is a great opportunity!! The students have been given forms (I can e-mail extras), they should try to submit the form as soon as possible.
