Tingling Tuesday

Hello parents and students,

Today was a very busy day. We started the day off with math and our math discussion tables. Next in math, we learned about rounding decimals. Here are two videos that show this. The first video is a song I showed in class. The second video is a thorough breakdown of rounding decimals by Mathantics.

In language, the students continued working on their OREO persuasive speech sheet. I found that the students are not explaining/justifying their answers so they have to do extra research for it.

The majority of our time today, we spent working on UOI. Here is a breakdown of the activities:

  1. Review food chains (Lion King)
  2. Learned the words producer, consumer (plants are producers)
  3. Asked the big question: why is it important for an organism to have different sources of food?
  4. Watched this video that helped explain this.
  5. Learned and worked on what changes in the food chain environment can do to populations and the ecosystem (worksheet). Here are some pictures below from the students working on this.

  1. Learned about food webs and looked at different examples of them and the information they tell us.
  2. Completed a food web group challenge: where they created a food web. Here are some pictures of the competitors.

  1. Worked on a food web worksheet that reviewed everything from today!
